What a busy couple of months it has been rehearsing for the panto and putting all my attitude into my Genie of the Ring character (not that it was very difficult to have attitude!). Saturday eventually arrived and us girls got all glittered up and ready for the shows: matinee and evening. I decided not to bare my midriff as no one wants to see all my wobbly bits and went for a traditional Punjabi suit of tunic and baggy trousers complete with massive false eyelashes and bangles galore!

The shows were a success and we're already thinking about next year . . .

Life is very hectic at the moment what with Aladdin fast approaching and some other events in the pipelines that before I knew it Plus London was here! It was such a fun night: meeting up with bloggers, having a few drinks, a lot of laughs AND WINNING THE 1ST PRIZE IN THE RAFFLE! I was so shocked (possibly due to the alcohol) and really pleased as it was a year's supple of undies from Elomi lingerie. I got measured and was astounded by what size I apparently am! I was given my first free set (a lacy black combo) and am awaiting news of what comes next.

Major props go to Claire who organised the whole thing and did an amazing job! Well done girl!

It has been too long since I last blogged but hopefully I'm back into it now. It's really hot at work which means I'm stripping off layers and looking quite shoddy by the end of the day and wearing the same clothes, as I have and always will hate getting up early! Grr!

Anyways at the weekend I was a guest on the Damien St John lunchtime chat show on BBC Radio Leicester and took the opportunity to go shopping! The bunions on my old lady feet are getting worse and I am running out of shoes that still fit and I have such trouble finding any that I was overjoyed to get two pairs from Dorothy Perkins in the sale! I also got a couple of tops and a skirt which I'm not too sure about but may wear for Plus London brunch darhling!

Decided to wear (another) new dress today for lunch with the family. Naomi and Wendy have also done posts about this dress and here is mine. The dress fits really well and is very comfy as it's jersey material and the elasticated waist is surprisingly flattering! I also got the stripey skater dress which is great for nights out as it has sleeves (a definate plus) and will do an outfit post for that one soon.

How you doin? Things have been moving at warp speed here and I am now temping (although I keep wanting to say ten pin bowling for some reason?) at Loughborough Uni! Cue money, money, money as ABBA would say! The job is extremely monotonous but I am glad to be working and as they say beggars can't be choosers!

In other news the cast list went round last week for Aladdin and I have been cast as the genie of the ring! Not Jasmine but the more lines I'm given the more I can see this is the part for me as all my lines are in rhyme, which I totally rock at! Think it must be due to years and years spent learning song lyrics.

Before I started work the sis came home for a fleeting visit and with the ma we went to Nottingham Arena to see The Specials! Cue us three and a whole load of middle aged men dancing and generally going crazy! It was such a good night and just a quick pic of me and sis:

It has been an odd couple of weeks with me starting my new job and then quitting my new job (down to job spec not being accurate). That was last week and full of drama and alas no decent outfit posts as I was filthy and shattered. The same has been true this week as I have been volunteering full time where the ma works and have been shattered (but not filthy). Basically blogging has been neglected while I sorted out other things but am getting back on track.

Wednesday night was the night I had been waiting for, for weeks as it was the first meeting for the new show and the sort of audition night. There was a good turn out and we find out next week which part we have been given so fingers crossed!

Last night was a trip to the ballet to see the Northern Ballet company's production of Cleopatra. The story of Cleopatra has never been told before so this was an original and modern take on ballet. The show was amazing! The combination of music, performers and choreography made the show seem seemless.

This turn in the weather has caused a shuffle of outfits as I have strived to find something cool to wear. I wanted to rock the bow tie shirt combination and I think it turned out well. Dressing for a night out to the theatre, opera or ballet is a real bugbear as it has become really difficult to get right and as a result I saw some horrors last night! Too tight dresses, full on gowns, people too dressed up and those not enough. Personally, I think it requires a mix of casual and smart, dressed down glamour as they say. Trying to get that "I've not tried too hard" look.

It has been another jam packed weekend and I'm just relaxing before I start work tomorrow! No more daytime t.v and sleeping until noon for me, it's full time work work work!

On Friday the ma and me visited Woburn Abbey in Bedford to view the swag of crockery, gold and silver before another visit to the Curve to see Hardeep Singh Kholi tell anecdotes about being a British Indian and make some very hot but tasty curry. I know some of my friends will remember how much I moaned about the show I was in last year and how I vowed never to do it again but a year is a long time and things change, mainly me. Quite an odd one tonight. I know An Inspector Calls like the back of my hand as we studied it at high school and I have been enthralled with it ever since, so I was really excited to see it performed tonight, but by the end I was baffled and disappointed as they seemed to have taken a great story and added uneccessary drama.

This year I turn the grand old age of 24 and as my birthday occurs during summer I have numerous celebrations with different friends. This weekend I was in Birmingham celebrating with my fabulous friend Santhosh. Just about recovered from yesterday! Went with the guys to Splendour in Nottingham, a one day festival featuring Blondie and Scissor Sisters! I was so excited I could hardly contain myself and once I saw Debbie harry onstage I didn't bother! I was screaming so much I nearly lost my voice! She was awesome, such a true performer as were Scissor Sisters. So much energy and rapport with the audience.

I was a proper mummy yesterday making loads of sandwiches and crudites so we had a really healthy picnic. We also managed to avoid getting burnt by a last minute call from my granny to remind me to take suncream! It would have been bad, especially as I was wearing an off the shoulder top. Just came in this evening and straight away I was sashaying around my bedroom and hmming to myself. I was at the Curve seeing West Side Story, thanks to a friend. If anyone remembers this is the amateur production that I auditioned for earlier this year and didn't get into. Seeing the girls being spun around tonight I think I had a lucky escape, or the guys did! The show was a great success, not 100% perfect but then this was amateurs.

There are some moments from SATC that stay with me always. Sayings such as "I haven't worn it yet, someday I will" and "some clothes wait a lifetime to be worn". I know that the storylines are hardly those of great writing but I do echo some of the sentiments. They were true of today's outfit which included a nautical inspired top that is truely random but I saw it in a vintage shop and had to have it.

It was the grandmama's birthday today and we took her to Pilling's Lock near us for lunch. I already had an outfit picked out but this morning decided to completely dress up and embrace the saling theme and put on this vintage gem:

With summer in full swing and all this humid weather I looked in the Narnia that is my wardrobes to get out my summer clothes from last year, when it occurs to me that none of it is suitable for work seeing as it consists of dodgy shorts and vests. So on a trip to town yesterday I searched everywhere to look for some more acceptable clothing. I have to say that I was not overly impressed but did get a few things, mostly linen crops from Evans and a dress from Dorothy Perkins which I wore today:

My friend was introduced to the delights of Hairspray and Rocky Horror last night for the first time whilst the rest of us sang along, no doubt in an irritating fashion!

In other news I have been trawling through the online sales and debating what to get. In the end I bought an orange dress from Evans which I am hoping to wear in a few weeks.

He's leaving home

Attended a friend's leaving party last night and for some reason all of us have been over excited for it all week and it did not fail! There was some excellent dancing (some even captured on film!) good food and even better cocktails!

My preparations for the party began super early at 9am with an appointment to get my eyebrows resculpted using the latest technique of HD Brows, a 7 step process to give you the best possible shape for your brows. They tint, wax, thread, pluck and fill in your brows. They also advise you on eyebrow maintenance and aftercare. I have to say that it was useful to know how to shape my eyebrows for the future but at £25 it is very expensive and overpriced in my opinion. I think that I will stick to the tweezers and the occasional threading for now.

In other news I was thrilled that I got my false eyelashes on first time last night as it usually involves a lot of fustration and bad results. I bought some budget lashes from Tesco as opposed to MAC and Shu Uemura and I would say that they are the same quality.

And lastly the outfit! I'm beginning to think that I am really picky when it comes to going out clothes. I don't like anything too tight but I do want something short and exciting. I also don't do heels as I have horrible flat, wide feet and bunions which are getting worse and on previous nights spent wearing heels have come home crying from the pain and spent the next day hobbling around the house so have given up on them to be honest. This does mean that my shoes are a let down in terms of the outfit but I try to compensate by drawing attention upwards.

Anyway after all that rambling here I am mid twirl in my new dress:

That's the sis and her bff Johnny masquerading as "newlyweds" to try and get an upgrade on their flight. Sadly they did not succeed but they are currently having a great time in South Africa before they head to Vanuatu, Australia, New Zealand and Korea as part of their elective after 4 years of Medecine. The ma drove us to Heathrow Terminal 5 where we marvelled at it's size and bought Krispy Kremes!

Saturday was the Big Beach Bums blogger meet in Brighton, a day spent being thrifty and fabulous! I joined Kirsty, Claire, Rebecca and Ragini for a really fun and refreshing day out. We started our trail in Beyond Retro where I found a vintage style bathing suit/playsuit that I can't wait to wear!

I also spent the weekend there sampling vegetarian haute cuisine, visiting the marina and riding on the merry go round! It was great fun! You can see some pics here but I didn't take many as I was having too much fun!

I managed to get a great pair of harem style trousers in the New Look sale and ever since have been attempting to find something to wear with them. The problem is that because of the soft material and baggy nature they have a tendency to feel and look like pjs if not worn correctly. For example I tried them on with a tee earlier in the week and it didn't look right, too casual so today I tried them with a blouse and they looked good! I also tucked in the blouse, a brave step for me.

I must say that I was really pleased with the result, here it is:

Just been watching the amazing Gaga on Graham Norton and dancing around the kitchen in my pj's!
