That's all I ask of you

A busy week before the end of 2010 which included two Wagamama meals in two days and two shows in one day! We took the mama to London on Wednesday to see Les Mis and ended up seeing the seminal classic Phantom of the Opera aswell! What we have been missing all this time! An amazing show with some fantastic performances and sets. Definately would recommend it!

We then saw Les Mis in the evening which was good but didn't quite live up to expectations which was a shame, plus my major bug bear of people russling sweets and drinks at important moments really dampened the experience. I have to say that I disagree with the theatres selling drinks and snacks which ruins the enjoyment for others when all you can hear is russling whilst a character is DYING!! Even that didn't deter people which just makes me so mad, they aren't paying attention at all if they can't keep quiet!

*Side note: I am a complete theatre snob and musical obsessive so I hope I haven't offended anyone. I just get really annoyed when we have paid so much money to go and want to enjoy the performance while other people are treating it like bloody dinner theatre!

Anyway moving forward and onto outfit post. I had been saving the evans tunic to wear on the London trip to get the whole casual cool look:

Upstairs, downstairs

Another day spent cooking and watching a lot of T.V consisting of period drama, music concerts and bits of films.

Christmas time brings festive cheer and the desire to wear something sparkly, although maybe not resembling the decorations but with this in mind out came the sparkly clothing for today:

White Christmas

The day is over and bed is calling after a massive lunch cooked by yours truly and the sis and hours spent watching Christmas T.V. In an attempt to get the wear out of festive clothing I wore this F+F glitzy dress:

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

"Twas the night before Christmas"

And I'm already in my py's and ready for bed! Me and the sis crashed the ma's Christmas party at Pizza Hut for lunch and have been watching films since we came back. Was determined to wear something glitzy so wore my cardigan again:

It's coming on Christmas . . .

Just finished watching Alan Carr with the family and friends and eating lots of Christmas goodies! Being in the new house has many perks including more space for parties!

Decided to do 1920's style for tonight so wore velvet Beth Ditto dress, glittery cardi (thanks to Tesco!) and leaf design headband:

Tree museum

Front room is currently housing 4 Christmas trees in the window and there are 3 in the back room so think that makes a pretty convincing tree museum! Also got lights up and getting ready for the big day next week.

Went with the ma to Leicester today to look at vacum cleaners and bedlinen and we came away very happy John Lewis customers! We even got to go round the back to the collections point to fill the boot up! After all the excitement of John Lewis purchases we went to Wagamamas for a delicious dinner and then back home for birthday cake! Got a big surprise lined up for the ma's birthday tomorrow so hope she likes it! Glad it's here as I am about to burst with excitement!!

I also had time to whiz round the shops on the lookout for a glittery cardigan for the festive period but it was very slim pickings. I have been organising my outfits for the next few events to ensure I wear all my lovely things and was actually surprised to see that the shimmer factor isn't so high. We'll see if that grows in time.

Today's outfit was centred around my new boots as I wanted to get the look right with chinos and a blouse:

Queen B

The narcissist in me likes to review previous looks and remind myself of what I have worn before. I have noticed that I have been rocking a few headbands recently and it reminded me of the notorious (if you watch it) Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl. She manages to work the headband repeatedly and still look fresh. I realised that I ended up looking more B than I had imagined today:

Stuffed

Writing this post slightly tipsy and very, very full! Spent the evening at a friends house having another Christmas dinner (this being my 2nd so far) and eating until I could not move! In fairness the food was lovely and there was lots so I wasn't the only one slumped over the table for quite a while . . .

I nearly wore this dress once before but changed my mind at the last moment. No such wavering tonight though:

Oh come all ye faithful

Tonight kicked off the festivites with a carol service at ye olde high school, although the ma and I cut it short to get back in time for Apprentice fireworks!

Decided to wear red and get into the Christmas spirit (I did give the boots and beard a miss though!):

"You should be dancing"

I was last night and danced up a storm though I say it myself. My highlight was jivin (very badly) with someone I had just met, does it get any better than that? I was out celebrating a friend's good news and we had a great night full of cocktails! Out came granny's top so I ready in no time:

But as it turns out, not for snow and ice! I slipped about in them while in town posting exciting Christmas parcels and cards. They are very comfy and were the last pair in Topshop so obviously it was fate. Here they are:

"I did it my way"

It's all over. I left work for the last time today. Placement is over and back on the dole I go until the magic job turns up! I had a lovely day with people popping in to wish me luck and have a mini cupcake (thank you M&S). Went out for lunch with my two colleagues which was delish (was given a lovely necklace) and then tied up loose ends.

Last day called for sequins but not too much glitz and glam, it is the council after all:

This is how we do it

Today's outfit should teach those Apprentice girlies how to dress to impress. More prints and less corporate circa 1980's/ dowdy old female, ha ha ha! I was all dressed up to work it front of house meeting V.V.I council employees from across the East and West Midlands.

So all you business types take note:

Casual Thursday

As a part timer my Thursday is my Friday (aka end of the week) and thus the busy day with the hectic finish! Today ended up being my version of casual Friday, the day when office workers can abandon their suit and tie and come in their off duty clothes. This doesn't really happen at the council as there is no dress policy and the clothes are already casual (sometimes too casual for my liking) but I decided that I would dress down today.

Here is the result so see what you think:

Cardigan: Topshop

Top: Urban Outfitters

Bangles: Primark

I am the very model

of a modern girl! Not a major general like the one the ma and I saw on Wednesday night, courtesy of the Curve and Gilbert and Sullivan for their HMS Pinafore. A jolly evening of nauticalness, great singers and innuendo (sometimes not so subtle!). In keeping with the nautical theme of the evening I decided to wear my new floaty tunic style top, which was meant to be saved for Christmas but I couldn't resist wearing it before then:

Step back in time . . .

To the past where I have been residing recently. My room is almost finished and looks very chic and art deco. As the ma and I put my new monocrome sheets on the bed she said that she expected to see Bertie Wooster or Noel Coward walk through the door at any moment! Photos will be posted at some point to show this stylish and period bedroom decor.

The new oven and worktop arrived last week so I christened it this evening by making veggie lasagne and banoffee pie (and doing copious amounts of washing up as a result). Very domestic godess and 1950's housewife.

Add to this the cardigans, full skirted dresses and brooches that I have been wearing recently (a result of watching Mad Men) and my vintage lifestyle is complete, minus vintage husband.

This is Thursday's and today's outfits (check out the vintage dog brooch worn today, a well appreciated birthday gift):

The wheels of progress

Kitchen has been emptied somewhat for the new worktop and cooker arriving tomorrow and the retro bedroom furniture arrived yesterday so things are powering ahead!

The job hunt is continuing as I have just over 2 weeks left until I finish my placement and face the dole once again. Who knows what the future holds!

The recent drop in temperature has prompted more layers in an attempt to keep warm and remain stylish. Here is today's effort:

Mad style

For a day when you ask yourself "WWJD?". In other words "What Would Joan Do?". Got the ma watching Mad Men over the weekend which led to a trawl over outfits, especially Joan's style as she has the curves like moi. All of which prompted today's outfit:

Cardigan: H&M

The day Pumpkin ate carrot

Not my words but my mothers. She decided to acquire an addition to our family last weekend and Pumpkin the hamster has joined us. A daredevil of a hamster who spends her days filling her pouches and jumping from one place to another.

And from one fur to another I spent Saturday night wrapped up warm watching fireworks at the university and being entertained by alcohol on an empty stomach and their comedy night! My faux fur coat is keeping me toasty warm in these winter months, warm and very stylish!

Here you see the two furs:

Send in the clowns

Don't bother I'm here! Not today but not far off in that I was wearing the same dress I wore for my clown costume - the Beth Ditto dress. Don't get me wrong I love the dress but the polka dots remind me so much of clowns and having worn it for the first time as part of fancy dress it will be hard to shake it off!

See what you think:

Oh and incase you're interested: Send in the clowns . . .

Midweek

Wednesday was a short day - at work and at home as I went to bed before the Apprentice! Got lots to catch up with including gossip girl, big bang theory, glee and various other shows.

The old philosophy of saving things and clothes for special occasions has mostly gone out of the window with me, in that I have started wearing sparkly and sequined clothing to work and during the day. However I do keep items to wear in advance of events or days to avoid them being seen beforehand. I guess it centres around planning. Anyway this leads onto Wednesday's outfit which included some old (but loved) sequin converse style shoes:

That she wore for the first time today

New lovely F+F dress that is a Prada lookalike and Mad Men inspired. New tights too but not recommended as they scratched my little legs! Not nice when I had to wear them all day at work. Anyway here they are so you can see them for the first (and probably only time):

Rolling on

Another Monday, another early start and another early night. My placement is nearing its end and I am back on the job search. If anybody knows of a glamorous PR/events job please let me know as I need one!

My wardrobe is currently crammed into my sister's room so my outfits are determined by how far I can squeeze back to get clothes out. Decided on this transitional look today:

No rest for the wicked!

Typical that I expect a quiet day (so I can sneak off to the nail salon) and get the opposite! Being left alone in the office and the phone ringing and working all day! Also typical that in the lead up to my departure from work I am starting to get busy!

Ended up wearing lots of coral today which seemed quite summery:

Winter warmer

The temperature is dropping outside and it's time for more layers and thicker ones! I have been looking for a chunky knit cardigan and the infamous Topshop one was far from fitting so luck came in the form of Evans where I picked up the lovely warm item plus some new jeggings (my old ones are worn out!) and a fantastic floaty top for the festive season.

In other news the decorating is in full swing and am feeling very bare in my room with just my bed, although it has been somewhat fun and fustrating using my sister's room as a closet! It has meant that clothing selection has been limited to what I can be bothered to reach and so the new cardy has already been worn a couple of times. Here is Tuesday's outfit:

Necklace: Primark

Tunic: New Look

Early riser

Was in Leicester today helping the ma with work at the LGBT centre. A couple of hours spent with the boys in blue AKA the Leicestershire police force encouraging people to report hate crime. The rest of the day was spent going to the family mecca Paperchase to buy lots of lovely things for Christmas and wandered around the shops until dark. I did buy a couple of things for the winter season to keep me warm.

Today's outfit:

Cardigan: Dorothy Perkins

Dress: Topshop

Necklace: gift

Belt: New Look

Leggings: F+F

Socks: Topshop

Clowning around

Just another normal Friday night dancing on stage to hip hop dressed as a clown! I was at the Spectacular in Leicester, a music event to raise money for Oxfam. I was impressed with the way my outfit turned out, especially the make up eventhough someone did ask (albeit a joke) if that was my normal make up?
It was a fantastic night despite the lack of people dressed up but I'm glad I was because I was going to wear the outfit for halloween but decided on something else so I got to wear this one too (with added red nose and green bow tie just before I left):

Trussed up

Like a turkey I was today! All my layers on plus my fur coat, making for a very glamorous and cosy look for winter. I stomped along in my santa boots like something out of Dr Zhivago, with the wind whistling through my hair, all very dramatic!

I remember wearing a bracelet given to me by a friend that jangled all the time and there was this running joke that you could hear me coming before I arrived! Well the same can be said for these boots. Called "santa boots" as they are red and the buckle is loose so it jangles when I walk. At work today it was very quiet as it is half term and for most of the day all you could hear was me jangling around the office! Makes me laugh to think about it but also wonder:

Is it ever appropriate to jangle at work?

In other news: the bedrooms have been cleared by the ma and pa and ready to be stripped tomorrow. Still not chosen paint or wallpaper but we live on the edge.

Today's winter ensemble (if you look closely you can see the pumpkins in the background):

Pumpkin pals

Today's outfit post was almost taken with a pumpkin for company! Got two from Tesco for the party and some more fiendish things! Plus we now have many, many lights and practically every decoration for Halloween!

So before I go to bed I am choosing wallpaper for my room as the decorator starts on Friday and I am still deciding . . . . .

Black as night

Finally dyed my hair this weekend. It was getting rather ghastly with inches of dark roots poking through so got that covered up and now resemble that raven haired beauty Snow White. Not my favourite Disney princess (will always be Belle) but I can dig the english rose look, plus it works for Halloween!

Today I decided to rework an outfit worn last year:

"Let me entertain you"

Early night tonight as I am suffering with an aching, painful body having spent the weekend cleaning the loft and so now may have tetnus and emphysema, well I was a bit wheezy! Hobbled around the office today wincing whenever I had to sit down or get back up so not a good look. My outfit on the other hand was! Rocking my vintage bow tie, 1940 style trousers and complete with dancing girls:

"Hit me with your rhythm stick!"

A late return after celebrating the final night of Navratri (the indian festival celebrating the devine mother, spread over nine nights). The ma and I were dancing up a storm with young and old alike and entranced by the music and steps. It is very possible that I was outsparkled as the women were wearing spectacular outfits, but I did my best and out came the sequin cape, saved for such an occasion:

Best in show

Spent yesterday doing more cleaning and tidying, I don't think the house has ever been this clean! Saw some good ideas for the Halloween party so will be ready about 2 weeks early as i'm so eager to get going.

Wore my new trousers today which were very comfy and stylish so am very glad I bought them for the winter months ahead. They came with a rosette brooch that is very cool britania:

Ashes to Ashes

As mentionned previously life has been moving along from one house to another and I have been busy shifting boxes, cleaning and even gardening! I'm already planning a Halloween Party and getting the house ready for a spooky good night! My outfits have been a bit lackluster of late due to tiredness and things in boxes but am getting back on track. I have started buying a few bits for the winter wardrobe including a faux fur coat and trousers! Shock horror! They will be posted soon as I am already thinking of outfits . . . .
