"I did it my way"

It's all over. I left work for the last time today. Placement is over and back on the dole I go until the magic job turns up! I had a lovely day with people popping in to wish me luck and have a mini cupcake (thank you M&S). Went out for lunch with my two colleagues which was delish (was given a lovely necklace) and then tied up loose ends.

Last day called for sequins but not too much glitz and glam, it is the council after all:

The day before

Last day tomorrow and still busy, busy. I am looking forward to a yummy lunch with my colleagues before I leave to an unknown destination (well home and hopefully a new job) with my CV updated.

Today's outfit is kitchy cool and features little owly:

This is how we do it

Today's outfit should teach those Apprentice girlies how to dress to impress. More prints and less corporate circa 1980's/ dowdy old female, ha ha ha! I was all dressed up to work it front of house meeting V.V.I council employees from across the East and West Midlands.

So all you business types take note:

And so the end is near

The last week of work is upon me and 6 months seems to have gone in a flash! In typical fashion I've got a busy week planned and an early start tomorrow. I will leave you with a Monday outfit full of prints:

Cardigan: ASOS curve

Tunic: New Look

Necklace: Primark

Casual Thursday

As a part timer my Thursday is my Friday (aka end of the week) and thus the busy day with the hectic finish! Today ended up being my version of casual Friday, the day when office workers can abandon their suit and tie and come in their off duty clothes. This doesn't really happen at the council as there is no dress policy and the clothes are already casual (sometimes too casual for my liking) but I decided that I would dress down today.

Here is the result so see what you think:

Cardigan: Topshop

Top: Urban Outfitters

Bangles: Primark

Jeggings: Evans

Boots: Schuh

I am the very model

of a modern girl! Not a major general like the one the ma and I saw on Wednesday night, courtesy of the Curve and Gilbert and Sullivan for their HMS Pinafore. A jolly evening of nauticalness, great singers and innuendo (sometimes not so subtle!). In keeping with the nautical theme of the evening I decided to wear my new floaty tunic style top, which was meant to be saved for Christmas but I couldn't resist wearing it before then:

Step back in time . . .

To the past where I have been residing recently. My room is almost finished and looks very chic and art deco. As the ma and I put my new monocrome sheets on the bed she said that she expected to see Bertie Wooster or Noel Coward walk through the door at any moment! Photos will be posted at some point to show this stylish and period bedroom decor.

The new oven and worktop arrived last week so I christened it this evening by making veggie lasagne and banoffee pie (and doing copious amounts of washing up as a result). Very domestic godess and 1950's housewife.

Add to this the cardigans, full skirted dresses and brooches that I have been wearing recently (a result of watching Mad Men) and my vintage lifestyle is complete, minus vintage husband.

This is Thursday's and today's outfits (check out the vintage dog brooch worn today, a well appreciated birthday gift):

The wheels of progress

Kitchen has been emptied somewhat for the new worktop and cooker arriving tomorrow and the retro bedroom furniture arrived yesterday so things are powering ahead!

The job hunt is continuing as I have just over 2 weeks left until I finish my placement and face the dole once again. Who knows what the future holds!

The recent drop in temperature has prompted more layers in an attempt to keep warm and remain stylish. Here is today's effort:

Cardigan: Evans

Shirt: Evans

Necklace: Accessorize

Jeggings: Evans

Mad style

For a day when you ask yourself "WWJD?". In other words "What Would Joan Do?". Got the ma watching Mad Men over the weekend which led to a trawl over outfits, especially Joan's style as she has the curves like moi. All of which prompted today's outfit:

Cardigan: H&M

Brooch: gift

Dress: F+F

The day Pumpkin ate carrot

Not my words but my mothers. She decided to acquire an addition to our family last weekend and Pumpkin the hamster has joined us. A daredevil of a hamster who spends her days filling her pouches and jumping from one place to another.

And from one fur to another I spent Saturday night wrapped up warm watching fireworks at the university and being entertained by alcohol on an empty stomach and their comedy night! My faux fur coat is keeping me toasty warm in these winter months, warm and very stylish!

Here you see the two furs:

Send in the clowns

Don't bother I'm here! Not today but not far off in that I was wearing the same dress I wore for my clown costume - the Beth Ditto dress. Don't get me wrong I love the dress but the polka dots remind me so much of clowns and having worn it for the first time as part of fancy dress it will be hard to shake it off!

See what you think:

Cardigan: New Look

Dress: Beth Ditto for Evans

Leggings: Yours

Oh and incase you're interested: Send in the clowns . . .

Midweek

Wednesday was a short day - at work and at home as I went to bed before the Apprentice! Got lots to catch up with including gossip girl, big bang theory, glee and various other shows.

The old philosophy of saving things and clothes for special occasions has mostly gone out of the window with me, in that I have started wearing sparkly and sequined clothing to work and during the day. However I do keep items to wear in advance of events or days to avoid them being seen beforehand. I guess it centres around planning. Anyway this leads onto Wednesday's outfit which included some old (but loved) sequin converse style shoes:

Cardigan: ASOS curve

Blouse: ASOS curve

Belt: New Look

Trousers: New Look

Shoes: Schuh

Silver brogues (in photo): Primark

That she wore for the first time today

New lovely F+F dress that is a Prada lookalike and Mad Men inspired. New tights too but not recommended as they scratched my little legs! Not nice when I had to wear them all day at work. Anyway here they are so you can see them for the first (and probably only time):

Rolling on

Another Monday, another early start and another early night. My placement is nearing its end and I am back on the job search. If anybody knows of a glamorous PR/events job please let me know as I need one!

My wardrobe is currently crammed into my sister's room so my outfits are determined by how far I can squeeze back to get clothes out. Decided on this transitional look today:

Bird earrings: Primark

Cardigan: H&M

Blouse: Primark

Trousers: New Look
