Home Sweet Home

Well I finally made it home and without having to click my shoes 3 times! Although that might have worked seeing as they are red! Anyway have been a busy bee since I got back, unpacking etc and with that finished it's down to work!

The weekend's outfits:

(Ruffle blouse, red bf cardigan, Scottie dog brooch)

This is what happens when I have to get dressed in a hurry. . . . . .

Had to post this as I thought it was rather comical (quite literally!) I only had 5 minutes to get dressed this afternoon after deciding to attend the lecture instead of watching The Rocky Horror Show! Seriously what was I thinking?! So in that rush I had to change my outfit from this morning and in the end I left looking like a cross between a clown and rainbow brite! ha ha ha! It did seem to cheer everyone up so I guess that's good.

I tell you they have some weird articles on The Guardian, I mean take this for example: changing My Little Pony into film characters! Why would you do that? And that Edward Sissorhands one is seriously creepy!

D Day!

Just came back from my presentation which went very well I must say! The retro presentation got a good response as did the outfit choice:

(black jersey dress with silk frills, coral necklace, 60's inspired make up with lots of eyeliner!)

The look was actually quite 1920's with the monocrome and panelling and the swirl of the skirt! Plus I went tottering in on my t-bar shoes!

The other option which was considered:

( black chiffon dress with tulip skirt, rouched sleeves and slash neck, red beads)

I didn't post yesterday's outfit as I spent most of the day in my pjs getting everything ready, although I did wear my coral cardigan which gave me a look of Joan from Mad Men!

An update of sorts!

Gosh can't believe it's been 5 days since I last posted! oops! so I need to do my outfit updates! Well another weekend was spent doing work for my innovation presentation and portfolio, I did manage to enjoy the weather from my window!

(flowery blouse, red cardigan, blue jeans)

(stripey top, tulip skirt, yellow earrings)

So that was the weekend, working lots of colour and keeping the outfits fitted!

Monday saw the rebellious side of me come out and I thought it was time for some Viv action:

(V W skull tee, tulip skirt, rose earrings)

Today was quite relaxed as I was "working from home" ha ha ha!

So that was rather random and quick as the work is still on the go! Will be trying out my presentation outfits tomorrow so those will be up! And will be at home next week so will have more action to report!

I AM GOING TO SEE THE SATURDAYS!

Yes that is right! My gorgeous little sis (love you sweetie!) got the tickets so I am there! With a load of 14year olds I might add! ha ha ha! But perhaps not as it is at her uni, UEA.

Honestly, just when you think you've got your head round something, someone throws a spanner in the works! In this case it was my lecturers today telling me that I have to write a profit and loss account and detail the staff structure of my organisation! And then it was define the strategy used for an event! Oh I was decidely miffed at all this information! But as ever my new mantra is in my mind; "Keep calm and carry on" so that is what I shall be doing, although I haven't even thought about the most important thing: what am I going to wear for my presentation next week?!!! The pressure is well and truely on!

There was one little ray of joy today and that was the weather, quite literally! I was out and about with no coat on and wearing my leopard print pumps!

(Coral ruffled top, stripy cardigan, tulip skirt, waist belt)

Keep calm and carry on!

In times of crisis we turn to the past for comfort and inspiration, and the credit crisis is no different! In recent months wartime posters have appeared in shop windows urging people to "Keep calm and carry on" a slogan that was used to keep peoples' spirits up during the war. The Guardian has captured pics of the poster in action. With that in mind my outfit today was 1940's wartime chic, even my hair was pinned back ready for work!

Has summer arrived?

So another weekend came and went with relatively no excitement, spent most of it doing the usual uni work and planning my easter holiday!! Can't believe it's nearly here! And I will be able to wear my new falsies and go out partying!

Yesterday actually felt like summer! It was really warm and sunny, so much so that I managed to wear my flats to uni in the afternoon! Oh what joy to let my feet be free! My outfit was 50's kitch:

(Brown plaid dress, pink ruffle cardigan, flower and pearl bracelets)

Friday 13 March 2009

What's occuring pussycat?

What a random day! Friday the 13th (ooooo scary!) and Comic Relief (Do something funny for money!) The upside is that the T.V will be getting some serious use tonight! will be flipping between CR (waiting for Bryn and Nessa!) and Corrie as it's finally Steve and Becky's wedding! Oh the excitement, well not much actually as I already read the spoilers so I know what happens! mwah ha ha! Well at least its something worth watching, unlike last night!! What was that all about?! I was in a bad mood anyway, having been told that I missed Gok's 'Fashion Fix' being filmed in Birmingham! coupled with a crappy day's lectures! (seriously what's the point?) so I ended up watching 'Sixteen Candles' to make me feel better.

As I failed to post yesterday I've got two outfit posts to do, so yesterday:

(Print tunic top, coral bangles, pearls)

I have been wearing my skinnies a lot due to the cold weather! Can't believe it's still like winter when it should be the middle of spring! Am contemplating getting another pair of boots to keep me warm!

Today's outfit:

(Spotty print top and an overload of accessories! pearls, red bead necklace, heart bracelet)

I am finding that at the moment I am looking quite 80's with my skinnies and red pixie style boots. Think it's also due to the cold weather! Roll on summer and 1950's dresses and pumps!

IT HAS ARRIVED!!!

. . . . . . . my new camera that is! have spent the afternoon figuring out how to use the timer to take better pics and I finally managed it! Woo hoo!

(Wearing my Wiz tee, red cardigan, grey tulip skirt, stripy leggings, pearl earrings)

Also took some pics of my room:

Love for 'Love'

Finally used my Christmas voucher for WHSmiths and bought the 1st issue of 'Love' magazine! Was persuaded by Beth on the cover and all the style icons:

It is pretty hefty so will be my bedtime reading and more research for my dissertation! Some gorgeous pics of Ms Ditto baring all:

Dame Edna stylee!

Am very excited today as I collected my glasses! Here they are:

Am in love with them! Very 1940's/50's but also got a look of Dame Edna!

My outfit turned out to be quite dressy today, not my intention believe me!

(Left: Frilly blouse, tuxeudo style cardigan, gold bracelets)

(Right: Covering up with my flowery mac and silver brooch)

Monday 9 March 2009

Monday, Monday . . . . .

oooooo! I'm shattered! Just got back from uni, been in lectures all day (minus a 4hr lunch break!) and this afternoon was pretty full on! Plus I was late this morning, am blaming iplayer for that!

The look today turned out to be 60's mod, lots of black eyeliner and monocrome in pink and black, adding the obligatory pearls and granny cardigan:

Late night activity

Ok so this is a quickie before I go to bed! Mostly due to the fact that I didn't get dressed until 7pm! Been in my pjs all day and didn't think that was a look I wanted everyone to see! So I've just been participating in a dissertation study, even had to sign a consent form! Luckily nothing untoward happened and I had a fun time! As I wasn't going out, out I tried not to look too dressy:
(oversized shirt, coral jumper, skinnies, pearls)

As you can see not a day goes by when I don't manage to get a bit of coral into my outfits! Looking quite preppy I have to say, with the shirt and jumper.

Barbie and me

I think it's fair to say that I spend an unhealthy amount of time and effort putting together my outfits during the week (down to whether I should wear earrings AND a necklace! ha ha ha) but its part of my compulsive nature AND it makes me feel good so I guess it's ok.

However, my weekends are a different matter. Since I am spending more and more of them doing my washing, cleaning my room and doing uni work I tend not to dress up so much. Today for example:
(tunic black dress, black leggings, waist belt, glittery cardigan, pearls)

As you can see, a very basic outfit but with a bit of sparkle! always a good thing!

Just been reading The G online, another article about Barbie showcasing some of her most popular looks from over the years, what a style icon! I am looking at the media's portrayal of women for my dissertation so it's a good excuse to look at these things and call it research!

BTW I have purchased a new (and much better!) camera so hopefully my pics will improve!

Number 1!

I officially have a blog! This is going to do wonders for my 'image' ha ha ha! And for my up and coming geek status! After uploading daily pics on Faceyb and adding little captions, I thought it was time to properly document my life! (In fashion terms anyway).
As I stated in my interests I am a vintage addict at the moment! Anything in magazines or online or in stores and I'm captured! My latest obsession is vintage glasses, particulary the Dame Edna variety! Thanks to the one and only (mummy!) I found this site called 'Opera Opera' that specialise in vintage specs. The 1950's cats eye were an instant favourite and an unexpected trip to the shop confirmed this! ( Situated in covent garden)

I think Madonna had it right and 're-invention' is the key! Over the years I have had many, many looks (some that I am still trying to forget!) I think my boredom threshold is rather low. It has allowed me to develop my own style that suits me and that I can work in all situations.

I think the 1940's/50's were such a glamourous period and I love the glamour! I have tried to stick to that and make sure my outfit looks polished and defines my shapely figure.

Examples of current outfits, showing my love of coral! and muted colours.
