Not quite Mary Poppins

No fancy clothes or jewellery today as I was babysitting baby Michael while his mummy attended a meeting. He is absolutely gorgeous with white blond hair and bright blue eyes and is very wriggly! I only had him a few hours but was exhausted, no idea how I would cope as a full time mum! So no best clothes incase they got covered in baby sick but something colourful:

The day we took a detour and Nadia got a job!

Yes you read that right I have got an actual, bona fide job!!! It was the interview I went for yesterday for Leicester City Council working in their Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Hopefully I will get lots of free tickets for the Curve and other events in Leicester and it will be terribly interesting for me. I have already begun planning a celebratory meal out this weekend with friends, just need to get the outfit sorted then the party can start!

In other news I took Elvis on a longer than planned drive today as I managed to miss the turning on this MASSIVE roundabout and we ended up in Castle Donnington and taking a detour sightseeing before coming back. The plus side was that Elvis said that I handled the situation well and didn't resort to usual Nadia style which is to panic.

This bout of hot weather does suggest that Summer is fast approaching and so out come the summery clothes:

Another day, another interview

The one today was to work for Leicester County Council in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport so right up my street (apart from the sport bit but you can't have it all!). It seemed to go well but you never can tell so not getting my hopes up just yet.
Whilst my wardrobes are crammed with clothes my downfall is smart clothing, trying to look smart but retain a sense of "me". In the end I decided on my polka dot dress and white shirt for today:

"Born to hand jive baby!"

How low can you go?

It was as close as you can get to time travel last night as some friends and I donned 70's get up and shimmied over to Flares in Nottingham. (Incase you don't know it's a 70's themed club). We spent the night doing the twist, the hand jive and generally having a groovy time! The outfits were a plethora of flower power, folksy and glam rock:

It's not hard to guess which one I picked: glam rock of course!

"And so to bed"

An early start this morning which means an early night for me! I finally managed to wear my new but old vintage dress today, which has been waiting in my wardrobe for the right occasion:

"Does your mother know that you're out?"

She does indeed and she knows that I will be out on Saturday night, actually lighting up the dancefloor at Flares in Nottingham, a 70's themed club so fancy dress will be required.

A non productive day as my body has decided to cause me pain and strife so stayed in bed for most of it recovering from Saturday night and trying to get rid of the lingering illness. I did venture out to the post office to return some ill fitting items to ASOS and found a top that my sister had left behind so tried that on for size and it fits:

"There's got to be a morning after"

The sister's party was a roaring success! Nearly everyone who came was fully dressed up and entered into the spirit of the party. I had such fun mingling and meeting more medics, am working my way round the entire student body of the 5 years! The plan not to drink very much inevitably went out the window once the party got into full swing and was suffering today. Not good when you have to be alert to travel and change trains but it is the sign of a good party.

I was not in the mood to compose a creative outfit as such today so just went for comfy clothing to travel in. Also was not prepared AT ALL for the warm weather we had during the weekend so the outfit was very much cobbled together:

Cardigan: Dorothy Perkins

Lace top: Primark

White tank: H & M

Jeggings: ASOS

Shoes: Office

No technicolour, just monocrome

Friday was a travelling day as I went to visit my sister in Nowrich for the weekend to celebrate her 21st Birthday! The cake costume was for her carnival themed party and knowing how much her uni friends go all out for fancy dress I was glad that it was finished in time and looked half decent.

I decided to wear all black and white and to emphasise the detailing such as the stripes, embelishment and polka dots:

The high priestess of cc love!

It's official. I have glitter in my bed! The CC costume is FINALLY finished, thanks to an emergency trip to Tesco courtesy of the ma. It turned out to be more of my interpretation and I think it looks pretty awesome and certainly gives Priscilla a run for their money. Aside from the shoes the whole outfit has been handmade, stapled and safety pinned to within an inch of it's life:

Candle: toilet roll, tissue paper, foam

Cake: green netting, brown fcotton abric, foam, glitter glue, cotton wool pads

On a blustery day

No outfit post for yesterday as I spent it coughing like a donkey and wishing I wasn't ill. The progress on the cc costume has been slow so did some of it tonight and will be pinning galore tomorrow to get it finito in time for the partay! Got the rest of the parts today along with items for the sister's costume, the star of the show!

"A brief encounter"

How disappointing. I get all dressed up to go and see (actually flirt with) my Jobseeker advisor and what happens, I don't see him but someone else! The injustice of it all! It was really fustrating as he was sitting in the booth next to me so I kept looking over and hoping to catch his eye. . . . . . . .

You know it makes me think of the classic "Some like it hot" with Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis when she says that she has a penchant for men who wear glasses: "Men who wear glasses are so much more gentle and sweet and helpless", although I'm not sure that's why I like them or this guy! I do seem to be drawn to them so if anyone knows of any suitable candidates then get in touch . . . . .

In terms of seduction I thought it wise not to over do it and went for demure and subtle:

Drama, drama, drama!

An early departure tonight from town and a very drama filled evening for one reason and another. Drinking it seems does not suit everybody. I finally got my new shoes today so slipped into those and another flowery dress for the occasion:

Twirling and swirling

Was laden with bags this afternoon, not full of new clothes but bits and pieces for my fancy dress costume for the sister's 21st birthday party next weekend! Have decided to channel Priscilla and my cc (cupcake) love and go as a green cc from the MacArthur Park song.
Today as ever was channeling florals, as I seem to be everyday while the sun is shining:

Necklace: Peacocks

"Jai ho: Part 4"

Another friday night working my socks off in preparation for the show. More and more repeats until we get it right. It's a bit like Fame really: "Fame costs and right here's where you start paying!", although not that strict, yet! In Fame style on came the leggings and patent pumps:

Warning: potential eyesore!

The sun has been shining and I've been out cruising the streets of Loughborough with Elvis in little snowy, who seems to be behaving themself now. In other news my parcel from ASOS FINALLY ARRIVED! Late yesterday afternoon so not next day delivery as I ordered it on Monday but it was free P&P so can't complain and I wasn't deperate for it. Wore one of the items today along with some others that haven't seen the light of day in a while:

Cardigan: Outlet store

"Ahoy matey!"

It has been cold and wet today so decided to channel the jaunty pirate look with ankle boots, nautical stripes and scarf:

Stripy tunic: Peacocks

Jeggings: Dorothy Perkins

"We got a groovy thing going"

Decided to make the most of this bank holiday and accompanied the ma and grandma shopping. Got a couple of groovy things from Peacocks for the maybe, sometime holiday. Typical moi, having the holiday clothes before the holiday is even booked! ha ha ha! Casual clothing for today:

Gingham dress: Tesco

"Happy Un-Birthday to you!"

To the sister that is as we celebrated her un-birthday today with the family. Lots of scrummy food and cookie cake demolished. Attempted to look vaguely respectable:

"The three musketeers!"

Back from partying in town with my friend and sis, where we managed to star spot (Rebecca Adlington in Vodka Revolution). I was supposed to be wearing my new shoes tonight but a mix up in the shop means they are still there waiting for me. Instead I opted for comfy flats to go with the monocrome + flowery jacket loook:

A family affair

Out we all went to Nando's for dinner. Halal chicken for the pa and sis and a plethora of veggie goodies for the ma and me so everybody was satisfied. The rain as ever dissuaded me from venturing out for the night and so am tucked up in bed about to watch the new series of Ashes to Ashes.

I needed comfy clothes on for eating a big dinner so out came granny's vintage tunic, paired with the trusty jeggings and pointy flats:
