Bowled over

I think my new nickname ought to be "Gatecrasher Ansari" as I have a habit of gatecrashing other people's event be it birthday parties, night's out and socials such as I did today with the ma's staff day out. When she told me the plan was to go bowling I jumped at the chance to go as it has been so long! We had such a fun time browsing the shops, bowling and eating!

Here's me in action!

Seeing red

Wearing one of my new dresses from Yours today! They both fit really well, although this one could do with some sleeves (take note Yours!). I wore it to work today and was surprised to see so many other women wearing red clothing. Think it's the Christmas spirit creeping in:

Queen of crate castle

We've moved offices at work and the box files to be scanned have followed me to the new office and arrived today. Crate upon crate for me to scan. Woopie! Plus being the temp I have ended up sitting at the desk next to all the empty crates piled up so high I can't see over my desk so it really is like a fort or castle but not quite so Disney.

Decided to wear muted tones today that included the jeggings, which was a bit risky as everyone in the office dresses smart but I'm just Nadia the Scanner (got a catchy nickname already) so who cares:

Comeback Queen

This working lark literally is hard work! All the early mornings and late nights have left me thoroughly tired and have taken their toll on my outfit posts, mainly because I have been looking boring and sub par recently and it hasn't been post worthy. However my earnings have been spent on a few choice pieces for winter workwear, which I'm sure is the thing to get me back into posting.

In the last couple of days I've been catching up with What Katie Wore which seems to have inspired today's outfit:

I feel like I'm in a play

Went on a mercy mission this weekend to get some more foundation as I had accidentally done a switch-a-roo with the sis and as a result have been looking jaundiced! The queue in MAC was ridiculous but such is their awesomeness that I waited and waited in line. I am temping at the moment and got paid on Friday so treated myself to a few things from Primarni including a new winter coat and this blouse, with ridiculous sleeves:

Thanks for the dress Beth!

It has been a weekend of partying as some friends came to stay and last night we got all freaky and dressed up Halloween style to go out! I have ended up with a collection of outfits over the last couple of years so was undecided on what to wear but settled on creepy rag doll-ish using the Beth Ditto spotty dress. I am so pleased that I bought it as it is such a great fit and I have been able to use it many times including last night:

Just a bit of Bob there for you from the classic "That's why I don't like Mondays", although in case I did as it was my first day working. As the cold creeps it's way in I find myself reaching for warmer layers:

It's all a load of bollocks!

How you doin? Things have been moving at warp speed here and I am now temping (although I keep wanting to say ten pin bowling for some reason?) at Loughborough Uni! Cue money, money, money as ABBA would say! The job is extremely monotonous but I am glad to be working and as they say beggars can't be choosers!

In other news the cast list went round last week for Aladdin and I have been cast as the genie of the ring! Not Jasmine but the more lines I'm given the more I can see this is the part for me as all my lines are in rhyme, which I totally rock at! Think it must be due to years and years spent learning song lyrics.

Before I started work the sis came home for a fleeting visit and with the ma we went to Nottingham Arena to see The Specials! Cue us three and a whole load of middle aged men dancing and generally going crazy! It was such a good night and just a quick pic of me and sis:

Back to black

It has been an odd couple of weeks with me starting my new job and then quitting my new job (down to job spec not being accurate). That was last week and full of drama and alas no decent outfit posts as I was filthy and shattered. The same has been true this week as I have been volunteering full time where the ma works and have been shattered (but not filthy). Basically blogging has been neglected while I sorted out other things but am getting back on track.

Wednesday night was the night I had been waiting for, for weeks as it was the first meeting for the new show and the sort of audition night. There was a good turn out and we find out next week which part we have been given so fingers crossed!

"It's coming on Christmas and they're cutting down trees" as Joni said and she'd be right. The days are getting shorter and it's getting colder and I'm wearing more black. I got the black ribbon for my new Converse, in an attempt to jazz them up and finally wore them:

Fancy footwork

Last night was a trip to the ballet to see the Northern Ballet company's production of Cleopatra. The story of Cleopatra has never been told before so this was an original and modern take on ballet. The show was amazing! The combination of music, performers and choreography made the show seem seemless.

This turn in the weather has caused a shuffle of outfits as I have strived to find something cool to wear. I wanted to rock the bow tie shirt combination and I think it turned out well. Dressing for a night out to the theatre, opera or ballet is a real bugbear as it has become really difficult to get right and as a result I saw some horrors last night! Too tight dresses, full on gowns, people too dressed up and those not enough. Personally, I think it requires a mix of casual and smart, dressed down glamour as they say. Trying to get that "I've not tried too hard" look.

Anyways make of it what you will, here's my interpretation:

Alert: cheesy fan photo

It has been another jam packed weekend and I'm just relaxing before I start work tomorrow! No more daytime t.v and sleeping until noon for me, it's full time work work work!

On Friday the ma and me visited Woburn Abbey in Bedford to view the swag of crockery, gold and silver before another visit to the Curve to see Hardeep Singh Kholi tell anecdotes about being a British Indian and make some very hot but tasty curry. After the show I bought his book and he signed it for me. Here we are:

A whole new world

I know some of my friends will remember how much I moaned about the show I was in last year and how I vowed never to do it again but a year is a long time and things change, mainly me. I have been able to gain some perspective and see that I could have done things differently so I am gearing up for the new show! The writer has chosen Aladdin for this production (the panto version) and auditions are in a few weeks so watch this space!

I went to Leicester last week to register with a new agency and get some ribbon for my shoes. I thought I would pop into Primark, just to have a look and ended up coming out with several new things, including this top:

"Please, Sir, an inspector's called"

Quite an odd one tonight. I know An Inspector Calls like the back of my hand as we studied it at high school and I have been enthralled with it ever since, so I was really excited to see it performed tonight, but by the end I was baffled and disappointed as they seemed to have taken a great story and added uneccessary drama.

And speaking of drama, check the outfit! I decided to go tonal and wear my new tunic from Evans (thanks to a 25% discount code of mum's) with my ruffle jacket that never sees the light of day. Really overdressed but I'm past caring these days and prefer to dress up like I imagine they did in the old days:

Horsing around

For the past couple of days I have been attending a personal development course geared towards getting you "job ready". As I haven't been doing much recently I decided to wear some photo worthy outfits and document them. On trend

I bagged up some more of my unwanted and unworn clothes on Saturday and headed down to London for the Swap Shop organised by Claire of A Monkey Fatshionista. It was a great day and everyone who came went home with something new for their wardrobe. I managed to acquire an art deco print dress (that I will feature soon) some shoes and a necklace to add to my vast collection!

I decided to wear the shoes and necklace today with a new tee from Tesco of all places! I was surprised after looking in practically every high street store to find a decent, and on trend tee in there. I'm hoping to get a lot of wear out of it as its pretty versatile:

Pizza Hut Nuts!

I've had such a lovely week of celebrating my birthday with friends and family and tonight was no exception. A group of us went round the corner to Pizza Hut to fill ourselves full of free salad and half price pizza! We had such a fun night, I got some really thoughtful presents and then they got me a cake and sang to me which was so nice. Lulu made sure she got her face in the pics again:

A very Happy Birthday

Today was spent opening very beautiful cards, skyping the sis in New Zealand which was wonderful, eating a really delicious lunch at Pilling's Lock with the ma and granny, having an afternoon nap and then a visit to the dentist to start getting my teeth fixed! A very lovely day, oh and Lulu came too:

When Nadia met Lulu

This year I turn the grand old age of 24 and as my birthday occurs during summer I have numerous celebrations with different friends. This weekend I was in Birmingham celebrating with my fabulous friend Santhosh. Before I left I borrowed one of my mum's necklaces and we got to talking about the sort of jewellery Katie wears, which tends to be big and bold. I had previously mentionned to my mum about a lobster necklace that I saw at LFW by Tatty Devine and low and behold my mum left the room and returned with a parcel containing . . . . . the necklace! To say that I was shocked would be an understatement and I am completely in love with Lulu, the lobster:

Call me!

I'm exhausted after a fun filled day out with friends and lots of good food! We went to visit a friend near Peterborough and spent the day being rather silly and touristy. My friend lives in a tiny village which she gave us a tour of and I spotted the perfect place to take a photo:

ASOS lovin!

Another busy weekend spent catching up with friends and partying! I'm so thrilled with this ASOS curve dress as it went down, down, down in the sale from £150 to £30! It is really heavy and I spent the night worrying that I was leaving a trail of beads around Nottingham but it seems fine.
