"It's raining, it's pouring"

There's no better time to go away than when the weather outside is miserable and it's raining so holiday here we come! In true form a hectic day to end the week sorting out labels and letters for the mailout and down to the wire to get it finished in time to go home. As it was raining before I even left the house I decided boots were in order and on came the winter clothes:

Twit Twoo hoo!

Tomorrow is my last day of work before holiday and I can't wait! Even went to get some summer reading today so am fully prepared for a week of fun in the sun! (well maybe not too much sun as I don't want to burn!).

I go through phases with the jewellery in H&M, sometimes I see loads of stuff and other times nothing. On a trip last week I was lucky and bought a pair of earrings I wore on Saturday night, a pair of retro sunglasses (will be aired next week) and this little fellow (an owl necklace):

Primark and Primark and Primark, oh my!

The last remnants of cake have been polished off (what a triumph!) and another birthday over for another year. On to the holiday prep and wardrobe planning! A week of no bedroom/ dressing room comforts means I have to be savvy and pack everything but not exceed 15kg. I can foresee a challenge . . .

Wore one of my ebay steals today, a Primark dress that I was not able to get at the time but really wanted and was able to get online:

"Celebrate good times, come on!"

Firstly this is my 200th post! Woo hoo! Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this, I do appreciate it. Also it's my birthday! Just managing to post before I hit the hay after a tiring but fantastic weekend! Have to say a massive thank you to parents, the sis and all my lovely friends who came and celebrated with me! I love you all!

Now onto the photos! First is my outfit from Saturday night:

Dress: H&M, Earrings: H&M, Leggings: New Look, Bangles: Accessorize, Pumps: Next

Had such a good time dancing and drinking cocktails with all the lovelies who came and I didn't feel that bad when I got up this morning! Got some lovely presents including a 1940/50's dog brooch, Mary Quant pop socks, lots of choc and money and vouchers. Went out for lunch with some of the survivors from Saturday night where we had nice food and then my birthday cake! I was amazed to come in last night and see a green cake just like the Priscilla one I love so much so was very happy indeed. Here it is:

And now for the birthday outfit post! The weather was really nice today so I decided to wear my new maxi dress:

Headband: Accessorize

Taken when Nadia saw what Katie wore

This is from yesterday as I was too tired to post and fell asleep before 9 o'clock, lame! Had a massive sleep to make up for weeks of no sleep and general tiredness.
So me and the sis decided to hit Nottingham yesterday to look for holiday and party clothes. We ran into a friend at the train station and had a good old catch up and then who should we see as we got off the train but Katie of WhatKatieWore blog fame! Argh! I was totally surprised and had to say something. She was so sweet and looked fabulous so it really did make my day! We headed to Nando's for some lunch and to sustain us for some serious shopping. Outfit picks to follow as the clothes are for holiday!

Pulled on a dress that I was conscious of looking too tight but think I managed to pull it off:

Mini break

My mini holiday starts here! Will be shopping tomorrow for holiday and party clothes, hairdressers on Friday and then making some surprises for Sunday! Hopefully will be able to spend some time relaxing as well.
I still managed to get out of the house this morning at a reasonable time despite a quick outfit change. I was going to wear my new/ old shirtdress that I acquired at the Big Bum Jumble on Saturday but decided it looked rather 80's power dresser for a Wednesday at work so exchanged it for this:

Necklace: New Look

Dog brooch: Granny's

Cardigan: Outlet store

Stripey top: Peacocks

Jeggings: Dorothy Perkins

Shoes: Primark

"I can't wait for the weekend to begin"

It is my birthday weekend (I say weekend as it is drawn out over two days) and I am super excited to see everyone and have a thoroughly good time! We will be partying it up on Saturday night and many a cocktail will be drunk and then soaking up all the alcohol on Sunday with a lazy lunch. Now I just have to decide what to wear . . . .

We had another sort out this weekend and have managed to fill 5 bin bags for the charity collection! It was good as I was able to see clothes more clearly and have a better idea of what I have. Speaking of which I decided to give this lace dress an airing today:

Two faced

Spent a random day in London: went to the Big Bum Jumble, picked up a vintage shirt dress and met Lauren from Pocket Rocket who was just as sweet as you imagine her to be, went to Wagas for the usual and it was heavenly! Decided to see the 39 steps which was surprising and not that great to be honest, but I can say that I have seen it now.

Thought that jeggings and a baggy top would be suitable for trying clothes on and for bracing the rain, although it turned out to be hot and humid. Today I went out wearing two faces:

Top: H&M

Jeggings: Dorothy Perkins

Sequin converse: Schuh

And then the rain came

Last day of work today, thank goodness! I was tired, bored and my back is hurting from sitting at the desk all day- go figure! Glad to have a lie in tomorrow and sort out my donations for the Big Bum Jumble on Saturday. I somehow manage to fill most of the charity bags that come through our post box and still have wardrobes full of clothes, still I'm sure I can find some things to donate.

Another rush job today, battling tiredness and the rain:

Choking hazard

A funny looking mushroom is what caused the blockage. A scary moment but no serious damage, thankfully. I was out lunching with a friend who I hadn't seen for a while and was pleased to be re-united with.

In other news sis booked the holiday today! Woo hoo! We will be off in a couple of weeks to warmer climes, Turkey infact for a week of rest and relaxation. Ah bliss . . . . . . . .

My immediate thought when she told me the news was that I need to get some holiday clothes. Am thinking maxi dress, shorts and the dreaded swimsuit! Will be packing my trusty harem pants, which I have been getting much use out of and wore them once more today:

Earrings: New Look

Cardigan: Topshop

Lace top: Primark

Harem pants: New Look

Big Bum Jumble

For those not in the know the BBJ (Big Bum Jumble) is a clothing jumble sale selling clothes sized XL and up. So all you hefty hideaways (a little Hairspray humour) get your fabulous big bums down to Stratford Circus, Theatre Sq in London this Saturday to get some gorgeous new clothes, watch the fashion show and have a rocking good time!

Date: Saturday 14th August
Time: 12 - 5pm
Location: Stratford Circus, Theatre Square, London E15 1BX

If you have any donations you can take them on the day and make someone else very happy!

"It's hairspray!"

A lot was needed this morning to get my hair to semi-quiff and then it didn't stay put! Got out my Hairspray inspired dress (i.e. it looks 1950's/early 60's with the full skirt and fitted waist) and strutted to work listening to Tracey and that sexy Link Larkin!

Monday, Monday

The start of another week and back to work. Boo hoo hoo! Wish I was on summer hols like the sis but unfortunately that pleasure is over. The summer weather is back and reminding me that I should be lounging around at home and not sweltering at my desk! Grr!

Been thinking about the bday as it is only a couple of weeks away, can't believe it's been a year already! Already outfit planning so am sure to be prepared (or not as the case may be!) It could be matching Leopard print playsuits courtesy of Primarni for me and my best friend so watch this space! Wore some of the same print today as it has been creeping into the wardrobe lately:

Cardigan: ASOS Curve

Tee: Vivienne Westwood

Pearls: vintage

Necklace: Dorothy Perkins

Dressed up Friday

Managed to spend every day this week in Leicester including my day off yesterday! The sis wanted to go shopping so off we went! Got some bow ties and jewellery from a vintage shop and then trotted around Leicester.

My look yesterday was very Florence and the Machine and very dressy for the dayime:

All at sea

The rain has started and I am now envisaging a scene something like Piglet and Pooh trying to stay afloat in Honey pots during the flood (anyone remember that?). Hopefully it won't last too long and disrupt my outfits!

In the treasure trove of the vintage shops that are near work I have already found some jems like spotty culottes and now this nautical kaftan:

Necklace: Primark

Tunic: Monsoon

Kaftan: vintage

Bangles: Topshop

Leggings: Tesco

Pizza and Mithai

A somewhat unusual combination (for those not in the know Mithai is south asian kind of sweets) but absolutely fantastic! Especially when starving after a long day. Get the feeling Weeble-itus is on the way . . . . .

Had a meeting to end today so went for a more dressed up look:

Earrings: Primark

Blouse: ASOS Curve

Skirt: Primark

She did it! She did it!

Sis got her exam results today and she passed another year! Yay! Only 2 more to go before she is Dr Ansari. Met up with her and Johnny having a celebratory coffee in Starbucks after which we moved onto a bar for something stronger. . .

An all black outfit today, with flashes of print:
