Brighton rocks!

Saturday was the Big Beach Bums blogger meet in Brighton, a day spent being thrifty and fabulous! I joined Kirsty, Claire, Rebecca and Ragini for a really fun and refreshing day out. We started our trail in Beyond Retro where I found a vintage style bathing suit/playsuit that I can't wait to wear!

I also spent the weekend there sampling vegetarian haute cuisine, visiting the marina and riding on the merry go round! It was great fun! You can see some pics here but I didn't take many as I was having too much fun!

And cast off!

Would you be able to choose 8 tracks of your favourite music of all time? That's the question being asked at the moment by Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. They are asking everyone to list their choices to see what the nation's favourite track will be, so get your thinking caps on and send in your list here!

Now back to our scheduled programming and today's outfit:

Not pyjama pants!

I managed to get a great pair of harem style trousers in the New Look sale and ever since have been attempting to find something to wear with them. The problem is that because of the soft material and baggy nature they have a tendency to feel and look like pjs if not worn correctly. For example I tried them on with a tee earlier in the week and it didn't look right, too casual so today I tried them with a blouse and they looked good! I also tucked in the blouse, a brave step for me.

I must say that I was really pleased with the result, here it is:

I was born this way!

Just been watching the amazing Gaga on Graham Norton and dancing around the kitchen in my pj's! Really did occur to me this morning that I have acquired a wardrobe full of sequins, poodle prints and ruffles but not practical basic clothing such as a black blazer. I had an interivew today and could have done with a blazer to wear over my new poodle print blouse from ASOS but with no said blazer it was quick change before I left:

Holding out for a hero

Listening to Bonnie Tyler and Meatloaf yesterday and today's hair looks decidedly 80's which was quite apt:

I'm sorry I haven't a clue

An evening spent at the recording of the BBC Radio 4 show with the ma. I can't decide what was more fun: seeing the recording or people watching? It truely was a sight to behold: 95% over 50 and white (hair colour and skin) a few anomalies plus me and my mum. Anyways it was a good night and they recorded two episodes so definately a bargin for £5 tickets!

And so the age old question of what to wear for the theatre rages on. In a time where people can wear jeans to work and some people don't own a suit it has become a style minefield to dress appropriately for this social occasion. Take last night for example: the men wore mostly trousers or jeans so that was fine. The women on the other hand were a mis match of jeans and tees, sequin tops, heels and sketchers, dangly earrings and boho bracelets. Some too over dressed and some not dressed up enough.

I ended up being more under-dressed but this was ok as the event was a recording for a radio show and quite informal. I'm going to the Curve on Saturday to see a play and am thinking chinos and sequin bolero so again that mix of casual and a bit of glitz!

Any thoughts on this? Do you think we should dress up more? I always think about Carrie in Sex and the city series 6, wearing those proper prom dresses and ballgowns for every occasion and looking fantastic! That was fantasy though. Here is my outfit so you can have a look:

Two worlds collide

It's been an interesting time of late what with Easter, The Royal Wedding and all these bank holidays! The sunny weather has helped things along and I finally got round to having some Pimms!

This weekend was a real contrast as Saturday night was spent drinking homemade cocktails and going out whereas today I got dressed up vintage style to attend an old fashioned afternoon tea party in a nearby village. I spent some time thinking about my outfit and ended up looking more american vintage I think, a direct result of my Mad Men love! It was great fun drinking from china cups and learning how to jive, definately felt like the 40's to me.

See what you think:
