When does flattery become flirting?

Ordered my new Gok Wan specs today so will be modelling those next week when I pick them up. I can see why they are so popular as they are the only range to offer real style and variety, check them out here!

Whilst at the opticians I was served by a nice young guy but the whole time I was thinking "Is this flirting or flattery?", with him working there it made things blurry. After some thought it made me think of SATC, of Carrie when she meets Burger, saying to her friends that she felt that she was so desperate for a man that she imagined one and that she thought he was flirting until he mentionned his girlfriend, i.e."This whole flirtations in your head!". I'm not in the same situation (I am not desperate for a man) but I do find myself thinking in some situations "Is he just being nice or is this flirting?". Hopefully I'm not the only one?

The mysteries of men aside I tried to take influence from Gabi of YFF and wore this outfit today:

And smile!

Had a very productive morning today: went to the dentist, made an opticians appointment, registered with agencies and got home before lunchtime!

More dodgy camerawork today as I was taking the photos myself:

Panda eyes

Woke up with lovely panda eyes today as a result of overdoing the eye make up last night. It always starts off looking good but doesn't end up that way. We ventured out to Nottingham for a friends birthday and stayed up til 5am dancing and drinking cocktails! It was a long night but a great one.

I always have these images in my head of how I want to look and like most things they don't always end up the same. Take last night for example: I wanted to wear loads of gold jewellery with this shirt and jacket but it didn't work out when I tried it on so I had to quickly change and hot foot it out the door, after taking a photo of course:

Step into summer

Started the weekend early yesterday with a late lunch accompanied by a few drinks and then some more and ending with "Dance on Broadway" on the Wii! Quite a change from my normal Friday of doing the cleaning and generally looking unattractive. As the sun was shining I decided to embrace the weather and ditch the coat:

Red nose day

I think this is the first year our family haven't had red noses. The grandmama usually buys them for us but she is mobility challenged this year so we don't have them. Probably just as well as they only end up in a drawer somewhere. I did buy myself a Viv tee, well I had to support Comic Relief (but more importantly support Viv):

Hello Sailor!

Another rare occurance this week: a mid week going out like in ye olde uni days! And we actually went to the local students union! What with the sticky floor filled with discarded cups and bottles it really brought back memories! Especially the bit where my friend and I nearly lost our shoes. . .
The main difference (apart from us lot being golden oldies now) was that all the girls were far more dressy than I remember. When I was at uni nobody really bothered, I even remember going out in a tshirt and jeans after I had been to band practise. Apparently (and not surprisingly) things have moved on so I was glad that I had my sequin jacket, even if it ended up in the cloakroom:

Early Bird dinner

Surprisingly it wasn't a bunch of elderly folk and us for dinner tonight but more young people. We decided that our group meetings of cocktail filled evenings needed to get more civilised and thus we are attempting some other activities, mainly meals out. Tonight was a feast of chinese including new additions for me of crispy seaweed and hot, spicy soup.

I have been getting the wear out of my boots as they were a little stiff to start with but are now really comfy and beautiful to admire . . . . Also got another (ahem) parcel from Yours with more reasonably priced goodies including a poppy print tunic and slouchy top that I put on as soon as it arrived:

"We're living the high life"

Certainly was living well yesterday with the ma in London! We had lunch at Yotam Ottolenghi's new restaurant Nopi, which was delicious! A feast of vegetables and savoury cheesecake followed by churros and fennel sugar. Then onto Madam Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall where the opera was performed in the round, and ending in cocktails at the Beaufort bar at The Savoy. Truely a day of decadence and fabulousness!

The age old question still rages on of what does one wear during the day to fancy places? I'm always striving for the right mix of casual and dressy and think I'm getting there:

Rocking Rocky

Unusual for a Saturday, spent it drinking in the early evening and watching Tim Curry strut for all he's worth! There is something strangely alluring about Rocky Horror but I think that's the point. Was round a friends house having a merry old time watching films and playing board games, it was very rock 'n' roll.

Attempted photos when I came back so the quality is shoddy but you can see some of my room with new curtains and delectable wallpaper (I actually blend in quite well!):

Fala-fell

The title of this post which is amusing me (and probably only me!) refers to the dinner i've just eaten. Went to Moomba in town for the OLD favourite of falafel burger to find that the burger has been replaced by very dry falafel, no haloumi and no coleslaw! What a let down! Some say it might be the increase in VAT, some say it might be a new chef but whatever it was I left disappointed.

As for the outfit, I bought this jacket a while ago as I knew I would want it for the future and decided to get it when it went into the sale. Since then I have been figuring out how to wear it as it doesn't quite reach full sleeve length but is quite bulky. I think it will be better suited to warmer weather but wanted to road test it tonight:
