She smiled at me

I think it's true to say that unless you were one of the 'cool kids' at school you wish you had been. They always seemed to be so put together and like they were having a great time. The reason I mention this is because I think someone thought I was one of the 'cool' kids today. . .

The job market is no friend of mine at the moment and in a bid to stay involved in real life and have something to do I am volunteering at my old high school, helping the kiddiewinks. I had to go in today to fill out some paperwork to certify that I'm not on any kind of 'register' and am allowed to be in contact with kids. As I approached the school I was taken aback to see the female pupils sporting leggings and not much else! Showing me how much things have changed since I was there wearing my baggy jumpers and ugly shoes! (I have major foot problems with bunions and wide, flat feet so buying school shoes was never a joy).

As I was walking home I saw a girl walking towards me and going to the college next door. She was wearing a chunky knit cardie, indie scarf and leggings so a very trendy outfit. I looked up at her and she smiled at me. I know, I know, it could just have been any old smile but it felt like a smile between two people who are acknowledging each other as if to say "I like your outfit and you look cool".

Read into it what you will but to me it felt like she thought I was one of the cool kids, and it made me smile.

So if you have made it through that short story and want to see the outfit in question, here it is:

Wandering around wonderland

Not an outfit post but I wanted to show the detail on the amazing scarf (from River Island) I wore yesterday for my interview, depicting Alice in Wonderland:

It's only London Fashion Week baby!

Found out today that I have got a job working at LFW next month! I am so excited and can't wait to see the great and the good of British fashion at the shows. I went for the interview yesterday hence the dressy outfit and they were suitably impressed so I'm off!

I found it hard not to tell people about the interview as I was so excited so I did tell some but not everybody incase I didn't get it, like the audition. It was difficult to tell people when I wasn't successful so I am trying not to do the same thing from now on.

I have no idea what we are supposed to wear so as soon as I do I will be putting outfits together so that I look awesome everyday! (and maybe get spotted? ha ha ha! Well I can dream can't I?!)

If you can't beat them

My big parcel from Yours arrived yesterday and so I spent some fo the afternoon having my own fashion show! Got some great stuff in the sale, which I will be wearing very soon!

After all the hype surrounding brogues and boy shoes I got some very nice ones (well curtesy of mum and dad) from River Island! More like little boots with a weave like old 80's winkle pickers. Tested them out today:

No such thing as a free lunch!

I am well aware of this fact having been invited to recent events (curtesy of the ma) which end with me helping to clear and clean and tidy. Such is the life of a little helper monkey like me. I did surprise myself today though and got ready in record speed throwing an outfit together last minute:

Earrings: very old!

One fly mo fo!

So it appears that I won't be putting on a latin American accent and salsa-ing onstage in West Side Story. . . there were a lot of talented girls there and too many for the show, but it was good experience and another story to add to my memoirs when I eventually get around to writing them! There is something rather exciting in the pipeline and will find out this week if it is a go. Can't say much at the moment but keep fingers crossed once more!

In preparation for this exciting event I had to get a trendy interview outfit which will be showcased this week. Suffice to say I will be looking the bees knees! For today I decided to dress comfy for trying on clothes:

Cardigan: F+F

Top: H&M

Beads: New Look

Jeggings: Evans

Layer it up!

Managed to escape from the house today and avoid that "cabin fever" feeling. In very grown up fashion I returned a plate to a friend and then helped him look for sheets and furniture for his new house.

All you trendy wendy's out there will know that layering is totally happening right now so I decided it was about time to jump on the band wagon and join in:

Cardigan: H&M

Curl up and dye

Visited the hairdressers today with the ma and grandma so it was a real family event! Just had a bit of a trim as fingers are still crossed for West Side Story (not heard anything yet so didn't want to get a drastic cut just in case they decide they want me).

Tidied up the wardrobe today and put on a top I haven't worn in ages:

Cardigan: Dorothy Perkins

Bow: Topshop

Top: New Look

Jeggings: Evans

Shoes: Primark

No. 48

Today was one of the weirder days of my life, auditioning for West Side Story - the community theatre production! Set up X factor style with a live audience and judges it was a test of nerves and character to get through it, but get through it I did (even made it through the dance section which was very demanding!) and hopefully well enough to be in the show! It remains to be seen but fingers crossed!

The outfit decision was difficult as I had to factor in dancing and singing and portraying the right image. In the end I bought a new dress and looked like this:

Ray of sunshine

So things have been pretty quiet since New Year and I'm on the job hunt once more. This means outfit posts are very sporadic and done if I go anywhere.

Well you lucky readers have got two outfit posts in a row: yesterday and today's! Yesterday's outfit was more tonal colours and layering whereas today's outfit is more of a statement:

On a recent visit to Topshop I actually managed to find something that fit! A tunic top/dress and now have two! This is the new one, nice peter pan collar:
