I'm not at one with the animals like Doctor Doolittle, in fact I prefer them silent and gazing at me through shop windows. I seem to have acquired a range of animal and insect jewellery that is at odds with my general feeling towards the real life ones. I have cats, dogs, horses, flies and an owl:
